Ex-Bachelor’s Roost is the true account of a sourdough homesteader meeting a bride from “outside” Alaska and bringing she and her family to his cabin in the beautiful wilderness of central Alaska in 1964.

These letters and essays were written to preserve the memories of one of the last eras of personal independence-the homestead had no electricity, running water, indoor plumbing, telephone but Ex-Bachelor’s Roost was paradise on earth to this family of willing pioneers.
